I've had equal success with both the Linksys Wireless 4 port router and the NetGear equivalent. I also have a friend who has a D-Link wireless router and his has worked great for him. I think as long as you stick with the bigger names, you'll be fine. All three of those have a web interface for administration and they're a breeze to set up. In most cases, you don't have to do anything to the configuration.

Ditto. I've set up a few Linksys routers and they are quite easy to do. Then I'd suggest their wireless bridge for the XBox (I assume it will work with that one), and any number of options for the computer (I have a USB wireless network adapter).

All those links are for an 802.11b network, as that's all I'm familiar with, but you can decide what you want to go for. The good part is that prices for these things have dropped significantly since I first saw them. My father's router cost him about $120, and I just bought the same one this summer on sale at Best Buy for about $65.

That's great! I hope it helps. It should be really easy to set this up. Probably not much more than plugging it all in and installing the drivers for your kid's computer. Plus it comes with all the network cables you need, so you don't have to think about it.

You also get some good security with the router, since it has an easily configured firewall.

Have fun! I enjoy setting up stuff like this
