Changing a share name on NT4 server? - 26/09/2003 17:03

I've got a handful of shares on a server that's running NT4.

I need to change the share names, because a middle manager decided they didn't like the naming convention.

From where I'm sitting, it looks like I can only delete the shares and re-create them from scratch with the new names. There doesn't appear to be a way in the GUI to change the share name.

Since a have several of them to do, it's a PITA to have to carefully re-create the permission structure (several different user groups each have a different permission set for each share) as well as the description tag for each one.

Does anyone know of a way that I can easily re-name the shares while keeping all the other attributes of the share unchanged?

Yup, that did it.

ShareUI on the Windows NT 4.0 Resource Kit CD.

Actually a nice little explorer extension, very useful.

Well, that was a nice little thread.
