How's your grammar?

I got 9/10. Points to whom can figure which one I missed.

10/10. Q9 was the one of which I was least certain.

I beat Bitt!

Do you diagram sentences in your spare time? You got 10/10 correct.
And, no, I have no idea which one gotcha.

10/10 Woo Hoo!

There were several that would be pretty difficult for the average person...which you clearly are not. I have no clue which one you missed.
Since no one else has guessed it, 6?

9/10. And just to make myself feel better, I'm going to guess that you missed the same one I did: #7? Damn that subjunctive mood!

The Watch Your Language quiz is pretty cool, too. 7/8 on that one.

9/10 as well. I got tripped up by number 4. I'm sure I got through a couple of the others by a lucky guess though

Re: How's your grammar - 11/12/2003 15:27

That's the one that got me. I got so busy considering the differences between lay and lie that I totally failed to notice that it was used in the past tense.

"Whom" is the subject of "can figure", and as such, should be subjective. Please substitute whoever.

Dammit. I knew that sounded wrong, but I got obsessed about the `to'. Turns out the whole phrase is the object of that preposition.

Woohoo, I scored 9. English grammar wasn't ever my strong point.

7/10. Still got number 4 wrong despite being warned about it.

Re: How's your grammar - 14/12/2003 08:31

9/10. Not bad for a foreigner . I goofed #4.

Some problems (like #7, subjunctive) might actually be easier for a non-native speaker. My high-school English teacher paid special attention to grammar. And I even didn't have A (we call it '5').

P.S. I am mostly in lurking mode recently because my [censored] home machine refuses to post on this BBS (I am at a friend's machine now). It is so frustrating that I am considering reinstalling this poor excuse for an operating system. I have to keep WinXP because I have do some work there, but dual boot is definitevely an appealing option...
