Anyone near Whistler? - 13/12/2003 21:41

Myself & Roger are in Whistler until next Saturday and were wondering if anyone is in the area who fancies throwing themselves off one (or both) of the local mountains, give us an email... bit of a longshot, but worth a try eh?

Wait around until February then I'll be there. Until then, hit Spanky's Ladder.

You know, I would hop on a plane in a second to join y'all out there.. but just totally swamped (several times over) with contracts at the moment..

But do have fun (hard not to out there!).

We're far too yellow to try spanky's ladder, the worst we're doing at the moment are single diamond blacks and gladed runs. However, we'll watch you doing it from a safe distance (like the bottom of the run)

Have a Kokanee for me! Be sure to hit Pakalolo before you leave. The entrance is a little tricky to find, but it's really fun without being really dangerous. I've not been there since I was 19 and I'm pretty psyched to get back. Don't break anything important.

Something to do while you're there: The restaurant at the top gondola station (not the Peak) on Whistler has a "first tracks breakfast" deal each morning, whereby you get to have an early ride up, eat breakfast while the ski patrol bombs the cornices, and then hit the slopes just as the lifts are opening for general use at the base.. Really cool to do on a morning after a snowfall.

I think this requires day-before reservations.
