Welcome back to USA from Amersfoort - 12/07/2004 21:07

Welcome back, I've returned safe and sound from Amersfoort. I had a great time at the meet (though I laid kinda low). It was great to meet you all and I hope we can hang out next year and/or before. Big thanks to everyone who helped me out with my slightly odd plans.

Yes, this is a knee-jerk, "haven't checked the board yet" post. I'll post any decent pics that I have (other than Smart Car pics). So, time to eat some dinner and read the board while my internal clock tells me to SLEEP because it's 1am Netherlands time.

This year was the latest ever for me - I left the bar (rather slurrilly) as the last drinks were being downed by Roger and the Too-Right Crew at about 4:00 AM, and didn't get home until about 4:30

We finished the beer again, though. The manager's assistant told me we had drunk a total of 85 litres of drinks, of which about 2/3 was the beer. Oooooooohhhh......

Ahh.. I thought I heard Roger and Rob belching away (through our open room window) at around 3:30am -- said to myself, "no way..". But, yes, there they were, holding up the British end (again!).

Ah, I did because I was being lame. Next year I'll show 'em how late computer science graduates can stay up.

Oh, and I could swear that Bitt rolled in at 5:30am Saturday, but that could have been some major delirium on my part.

I already did that -- as did John and John .

It was a little after 4AM (Sunday). I think I woke you up a little later stumbling around (though, all things considered, I think I managed to stay pretty quiet).

And, Mark, I think I managed to hold up the US/North American end pretty well. At this point, I can't quite remember which of us closed down the bar, but it definitely included Roger, Kim, and me. Maybe Michael Tempsch? And one of the lovely ladies. I"m sure there were others there, too, but I couldn't identify them at this point if I tried.

Jet lag has its advantages!

Heck yeah jet lag has its advantages. Because my body think's it's mucho later than it really is, I'm actually going to bed on time AND waking up on time. As as added bonus, waking up at 6:30am feels like I've slept in till 12:30 in the afternoon! So not only do I get to work on time, but I feel as laid back as a Saturday... everyday! On that note, darn, I'm past my 10:30pm "bed time".
