My CD - 16/11/2004 12:47

Will be released on Dec 3rd. If you have Winamp installed, though, you can stream the tracks from here right now. We're actually receiving the discs with the artwork tomorrow (these mp3s were ripped from a reference disc). It goes without saying that I'm totally stoked!

Hey, Jeff, have you considered using Amazon Honor as the way of paying for the CD, besides PayPal? I saw some free SW folks use it to collect contributions. I don't have any idea how much hassle it is to set up and are there drawbacks, but I can use it to pay from Croatia, while PayPal does not seem to like my money

I hadn't even thought of it, honestly. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at it.

BTW, for any of you who would like to buy a CD but aren't in the US (and are able to pay), don't worry about the shipping costs. I'll gladly pay for the bragging rights of having sold a CD to somewhere exotic*.

I'd also planned to do an "online download" purchase system, but that's taking a bit longer to create than slapping on a PayPal button to happen.

Thanks for the support, all. It's been a thrilling ride to do this, and I'm very pleased with the result. I should mention that one of the primary forces driving me to do this was knowing that mwest had put a demo cut of one of these songs (a previous, crude recording) on his empeg and was actually listening to it. I figured if people would actually listen, I ought to try and do something with a bit more quality!

*"exotic" = "outside of Texas".

Congratulations! I know how much work it is, and I'm sure you must be feeling a great sense of accomplishment.

Remind me to go back and stream it once I'm done playing HL2 in a couple days.

For the Non-PayPal world, our CD is now being sold at CDBaby where you can use a credit card if you're interested (Plus you can hear clips of the tracks without Winamp).

Incidently, for those of you also creating music I've been completely impressed with CDBaby so far. They've been a pleasure to do business with and are going to be distributing our stuff to iTunes, Napster, etc., though that won't happen for a few months. The coolest thing they're doing, however, is sending us a machine so we can take credit cards at our shows. That's HUGE because we can't affort the typical $30 a month fee and we always get questions about taking credit from people who don't have cash or a check on them. With CDBaby they take 9% of the sale and require no monthly fee. Very Cool.

I just ordered a couple Good Brother Earl CDs. They were fast but their shipping confirmation was abit odd...

Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make
sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that
money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party
marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of
Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in
our private CD Baby jet on this day, Sunday, December 26th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did.
Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year". We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Yeah, I got the same message buying this cd. I thought it was hilarious, but I suppose it all depends on your brand of humor.

Re: My CD - 03/01/2005 22:56

I thought it was funny until I got to the end and I realized that nowhere did they tell me the shipping method or the expected date of arrival.

Ah. I suppose that's a bit annoying. FWIW I got my disc in the mail incredibly fast. I don't know how consistent they are though.

Actually, it does say "post office", so there's no telling when or even if it'll get there.
