Palm Travel chargers? - 21/02/2005 16:30
In Short: What voltage is output by the Palm Zire31/72/TungE travel charger??
Long: I have a new Zire72 PDA, but it came with the stupid USA BRICK ac adapter.. weighs a ton, and is fixed to 120V-60Hz. So I want the PalmOne travel charger kit to replace it. I have a similar kit already for a Zire21, but the voltage is 5.5V versus the 5.2V from the Zire72 stock brick.
Does it matter?
Cheers

Mark, I dug around on the PalmOne developer site for a while but couldn't find a concrete answer. Looking at the Palm site though, it seems like there are chargers for the Zire/Zire 21 and then the Zire 31/72, so they may be different.

Yeah, the plug is different (easily fixed with wire snips and some solder).
Dunno about the rest. I guess the real question is, could somebody outside North America please take a look at the label on a Zire31/Zire72/.. power adapter, and see what voltage/current it supplies.
Thanks

Hi Mark,
I have both of them here:
The Zire 21 Adapter have the following specs: Output 5.5 VDC, 0.35A
The Zire 31 Adapter have the following specs: Output 5.2 VDC, 0.50A
Hope this helps.
bye

Hello Mark,
No problem...
The information I was sending you, was from the power adapter included with the devices for Europe. The input is from 100 - 240V.
But right now, I took a original Travel Charger Kit for Tungsten E & Zire 31,72 form our stock an there is written on the adapter "DC Output +5V and 1A".
Strange, but true..

Mmm.. Okay, so even closer to 5V. And the travel charger for the Zire21 was 5.5V (if I recall correctly). Mmm.. they're probably completely interchangeable, but I guess I won't be the one to test that theory.
Thanks!
