Getting rid of old bookmarks?

Getting rid of old bookmarks? - 18/03/2005 13:57

Back when I has my old Windows operating system (I can't remember if it was Windows 2000 or Windows 98), but when I looked at the Internet Explorer 'favorites' folder, I was able to see a little thumbnail version of the webpage that was bookmarked. This was very handy to use if I wanted to get rid of old bookmarks that were dead links. However, it doesn't seem that Windows Xp Pro has this function, but maybe I am just missing it. Does anyone know how I can do this?

They're still there. Usually in the 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Favorites' folder.

I know where the favorites are located at, but when I switch the view to Thumbnails...all I see is a giant Internet Explorer icon with a name of the webpage underneath. Before with the other OS, it would show a little thumbnail version (mini screen capture) of the webpage. How can I get that to show up?

Hey, that's interesting. I never knew that before. I probably won't use it but it's always neat to see a new trick.

Sorry, but I've never used XP for long enough to notice little differences like this. At this point I'll probably never "upgrade" to it. Of course, Longhorn may be much worse. OSX is looking better every day.

Wow, I've never seen the website thumbnails before. I've always used a NT version of the OS, maybe that's the reason, dunno.

I use a freeware utility called AM-Deadlink to check bookmarks/favorites/links.

This maybe?

After some reading, I realized what you were refering to and it appears to have been dropped in XP.

I tried the steps listed in the knowledge base article but no luck.
