what to do in New York - 21/03/2005 10:05

Looks like I'll have some time in New York (heading out on Easter Sunday, coming back Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning) so was wondering what to do.
Sadly I'll be there on business, but I'll only be working 9 to 5 ish, so nice short days, so any recommendations on what to do in the evenings will be gratefully received.

No, but the selection of people does get really interesting late-night. I was having sushi in the village at about 2 AM when I was approached by a guy selling T-Shirts. He had two, one a tribute to James Brown, and the other one had a slogan reading "I only date crack whores." Aaah, New York.

You can spend a lovely evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Tavern on Jane (8th Ave and Jane St) for good friendly local bar with good food.

Someone--I no longer recall---guides full moon tours around Manhattan by kayak; truly memorable, and your timing's about right. It was featured some while back in NYTimes; should also be googelable...

now that might just work! Actually it looks like I'll have Sunday night, then late Monday night and early Wednesday morning free....sadly I can see it being a typical work trip where I'll see airport lounges, taxis, hotels and computer rooms.

My fav night out alway seemed to start at the Thirsty Scholar ( 155 Second Avenue) followed by a really good indian..........
but realising that you can get this stuff every day makes it almost irrelevant.
