Linux, SATA and IDE Drive information tools - 09/10/2005 12:14

Hey guys,

Is there a way of getting hdparm, hddtemp and ide-smart working on SATA drives in Linux? It would be good to check their integrity once in a while.

TIA

not until libsata has support for ATA command passthrough.

Thanks SuperQ. Will look forward to it in a future kernel.

Yes, just apply the libata passthru patch. I'm (still!) bugging Jeff to push it upstream sooner than later. But in the meanwhile, it's standard in the (K)Ubunutu Hoary/Breezy kernels, as well as those of most other distros.
