I read about those a while ago, but hadn't heard of anyone getting caught. It sounded like they went to quite a bit of effort to catch the guy, I'm amazed he got off with a $50 fine.

His fine is likely due to the fact that it was hard to find a law on the books that he had broken! I bet they'll take care of that real quick..

I had a friend who plugged a strobe light into his cigarette lighter using an ac/dc converter many years ago. I don't know if he ever got the lights to change though. It was hard to find the right frequency.
