Amsterdam Hotels/Bed & breakfast - 23/02/2009 22:07

Hi,

It's been a while since I've looked, but I swear the prices for accomodation in Amsterdam have rocketed!

Anybody know of any decent hotels/B&B that don't require me to sell a kidney to finance a long weekend with SWMBO? I already have flights (1st May out and 4th May back to the UK) booked.

Even Amsterdam escape seem to have cut back on the number of apartments they rent out now.

Thanks.

You realize you are arriving the day after Queen's Day? That makes finding accommodation a challenge!

I am about to dash off up to Helsinki for a couple of days, but when I am back (Friday night) I can check with some of the "regular" places around here - but not optimistic due to the timing!

Ahh that explains it! Thanks for the reply!

I tried the ibis again after reading your response and it came back with a much cheaper rate this time (30%!) so I booked that!

Can you ping me by private message on Monday, and I'll check some alternatives that might be cosier than the Ibis.

Which Ibis is it? There are 4 in Amsterdam. The "Amsterdam Centre" and "Amsterdam City Stopera" are in OK locations, "Amsterdam Airport" is very hard to get to/from, and "Amsterdam City West" is not much better.

Hi Julf,

It's the Amsterdam centre, the one next to the central station, it's pretty much a pre-requisite that the hotel is in the centre, I know the IBIS isn't going to set the world alight, but it's in the centre and cheapish!

Adrian,

It's going to be a bit messy around central station on May 1, but otherwise you should be OK - I do have to say that your timing is less than perfect... smile
