CD burning software - 25/08/2009 11:44
I though this had been previously discussed, but my search fu is weak this morning.
Can anyone recommend some freeware Windows CD/DVD burning software? A copy of Roxio did come with my laptop, but I'm looking for something with a little less fat and a cleaner GUI.
Most of my use if burning ISOs if that colours any opinions.
Thanks

ImgBurn works well for me, it can burn ISOs and individual files.

For burning just ISO images I can recommend IsoRecorder.
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htmIt couldn't have much less fat on its UI

I use ImgBurn to burn ISOs, and
CDBurnerXP to create data or audio CDs.

You might already have one. There are command-line ISO burners called CDBURN and DVDBURN that come with the
Microsoft Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools.

I'll second robricc, though I use CDBurnerXP for everything. It's so nice to have something free that just works, I install it on pretty much every machine I set up.

Another vote for CDBurnerXP. It's a terrible name (what moron with no forethought named it that?), but a great app. It reminds me of Nero before Nero got even more bloated than Norton or McAfee, except it runs even better than Nero ever did.
Like Matthew_k, I install CDBurnerXP on every computer I set up.

XP has the simple "select a bunch of files">rmb>send to>cd. followed by the rmb>write to cd
It's there, unless some other program has usurped the function.
It won't do fancy disk authoring, but it can't be beat for simply tossing a bunch of files onto a cd.

Does anyone know of a free burning app that will do CD TEXT? Apparently CDBurnerXP doesn't. I'm actually back to CDs in the car (what a terrible state!).

InfraRecorder claims to. Also Burrrn.

I've ended up follow Rob and installed both packages. ImgBurn create a context menu link that lets ISO be burned with just a right click. But it's UI for creating data CD/DVD is poor.
In any case, thanks all.
