My package was lost... In Time.

My package was lost... In Time. - 31/03/2011 13:16

An order I placed online was just shipped UPS and I've just been informed that it's been lost in time.

UPS may be using some new delivery system and instead of just throwing the package onto a truck this afternoon, they've sent it back to the year 2009 where it's already been delivered.

I'm not sure who signed for it, but I bet they were confused as hell to see an iPad case. I hope I didn't cause a paradox.

They are reusing tracking numbers and forgot to delete the records of the old ones? Ooops.

Na, that can't be it. I think this is how the leakers got the images of the cases for the original iPad months before the original iPad was announced. It was my order from the future.

Not nearly as spooky, but last week I entered a UPS tracking number to discover that my Arduino Duo was in limbo due to:

Train Derailment (Spokane)

I've had about four or five of my last shipments show the same thing. The last one wasn't updated until after I received the delivery.

UPS ships stuff by Train? That's a surprise to me.

Maybe the train fell on the UPS truck?

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks (that go north and then east over the Cascades) go right by my marina and I pretty regularly see UPS trailers on duplex "piggyback" intermodal cars. Way cheaper than tractor-trailer hauling for long hauls.

While not lost in time, my package doesn't appeared to have been tracked at all:

Normally this would not raise an eyebrow, but it is one of the $79 Kindles, and Amazon pre-registers the Kindles to your account, so I wonder if Amazon is hiding the locations where they can do this.
My nearest Amazon shipping depot is less that 30 minutes north of Chelmsford, MA in tax free Nashua NH.

Amazon pre-registers Kindles? Hmm. I just ordered one of the new Kindle Touch things for my father. I checked the "it's a gift" box. I hope it's not pre-attached to my own account. (I tend to read science fiction. My dad tends to read spy novels. Little benefit in us sharing accounts.)

You can deregister it, if it is registered to you, here:

You were expecting "Now passing through Dracut"?
