Laser Cutter - For Foam

Laser Cutter - For Foam - 06/09/2011 10:37

I've been using a plotter cutter to cut out bits and bobs from 2mm foam for a while now.

The blades are a bit of a pain, I'd like to build a home brew CNC laser cutter. Anyone got any experience and can point me in the right direction ???

Cheers

I'm building one now. You can find the plans and kits on Buildlog.net. Another possibility is to just buy a ready-made laser cutter on eBay. This might be cheaper depending on needed cutting/engraving area and features.

Have you checked to make sure that your foam can be cut in a laser cutter? Not everything is suitable for a laser cutter.

Thanks for the link.

Already thinking that a computerised mount cutter is more what I need. But I can't find any DIY solutions. Hmmmm.....
