Apple iPhone Lightning Connector - USB 3 speeds or not?

Apple iPhone Lightning Connector - USB 3 speeds or not? - 13/01/2017 07:02

Silly question, but I'm not finding the answer right away when I google it.

I connect my iPhone 6s Plus to my computer via a Lightning Dock that I bought at the same time as I bought the 6s Plus. I have the choice to connect its USB cable to either USB3 or USB2 ports, on either my computer, or my USB3 hub, or a USB2 hub.

When using this configuration to perform a sync or backup of my iPhone, is there a speed advantage to connecting it to the USB3 connection type? Or will it just behave like USB2 no matter what?

It's hard to get a straight answer from Google. This thread has conflicting answers and conflicting screen shots: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6532848?start=0

It is my understanding that the only iOS device to support USB3 speeds is the large iPad Pro (people assumed that the smaller iPad Pro would too as it was released later, but it didn't).

And if I remember correctly, it only does that when connected to the newest Lighting camera adapter or when connected with a Lightning to USB-C cable.
