Decent news?

Decent news? - 30/12/2001 21:56

As entertaining as finding out what some marine in Afganistan ate, I'm wanting actual news. And all I get on Headline news from CNN is 20 mins of "Target Terrorism", 8 mins of sports, and the rest dedicated to the rest of the world. I had to go pull a BBC One stream to find out anything about the fires near Sidney, and that the death toll in Peru is up to 240. Is there another decent, always on news provider on the Dish Network? Or a decent quality stream that will justify my broadband? Because I know there is a world out there with news in it, it just seems to be hidden behind the mess from post 9/11.

I have Newsworld International on DirecTV. It is a 24 hour news network that shows newscasts from different parts of the english speaking world. Most of the daily content is from Canada however.

I watched NWI for a good part of the week of 9/11 because I was interested in the perspective from the rest of the world.

I watch BBC World for news here in Croatia (I think it is on both Astra and Eutelsat/Hotbird), but I don't know whether it is available in Colonies (perhaps they consider you home turf)

I have "BBC America" on DirecTV. I usually stay away from this channel as it shows some of the worst sitcoms I've ever seen.

Yes, their good documentary or drama series are really excellent, their bad sitcoms are really awfull (but there were some decent ones). Anyway, BBC World (and even BBC One) are more news-centered.
