Who else is almost hating not being the "only one" - 11/03/2002 11:07

I used to be the only one with an empeg.... now 3 of my friends and my brother in law have one... They all bought one becuase I told them about the sale (they wanted one forever - but weren't biting yet). Now I'm not so unique! Oh well, now I am the local RioCar support guy.... heehee (for "how-to" questions)

Re: Who else is almost hating not being the "only one" - 11/03/2002 11:27

I'm still "THE ONLY ONE" Well, sorta. I bought one for my brother when they dropped in price. So he has one too. But no one else I know has one. And I even offered one of my extras to a few people. Now I won't part with it at the sale price, so if they ask, it's not for sale. So to be very specific, I'm "the only one" with 3 empegs.

Haha! Wow! I know what you mean about not letting one go. I still have my Mk2 and there is no way I'm selling it for less than $600 or $700 (with no drive).

I love(ed) being the only one. But, I had to alert my friends to the deal to keep them from dipping into my stash.

Re: Who else is almost hating not being the "only one" - 11/03/2002 11:37

I too have got three Empegs (Mk2a's). One bought at full price, the second at the first price drop and the third at the x-mas price drop.

I won't sell even ONE of them. EVER. God knows I've had some rediculous offers already. But hey : I told everybody of which I knew they were even half interested about the x-mas drop AND I told them they'd have to be fast too. Those that didn't believe me are now nagging me about it, trying to covince me to sell one. Sorry guys, you had your chance. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Well unlike most of the people at this forum I know very little about computers but i saw the rio car on E-bay and after a few minutes of browseing the net I came to sonic blue. A few key strokes and 5days later I was JAMMIN' ....I soon realized how lucky I was to get one ....and no body i know has one......but they do now

The same thing basically happened to me, I was looking for a good car MP3 player, because all my friends were getting them and I cant be outdone, I found a sight talking about the Empeg and how badass it was but too expensive, came across Sonic Blues site, saw that they had gone on clearence and had to buy one up. Now I got the best system and they cant do a thing about it

I still am the only one, because even though I told all my friends about them when they went on sale, they're all as unemployed as I am.

haha, interesting topic, but everyone has a different motor with a different image, even the sound systems are different, with different music collections and different amps and speakers

what am i going on about .... well even if all my friends got empeg (which they dont) my system would still be unique and special!

I used to be the only one with an empeg.... Now I'm not so unique!

I own the only two empegs in Interior Alaska. The closest empeg "competitor" to me is nearly 400 miles away! (Hi, Liufeng and alaskan7...)

So nyaaahh nyaaahh nyaaahh!

Define ``interior Alaska'' for me. Provide examples.

Anything other than exterior Alaska, of course.

So you're saying that all other empegs in Alaska are out-of-doors?

Re: Who else is almost hating not being the "only - 13/03/2002 20:24

Define ``interior Alaska'' for me. Provide examples.

I Googled the state gov web site and it says:

a) More than 6 hours dog mush or b) 1.25 hours or greater flight time in a DeHavilland Beaver from salt water summer tide line.

Hope that helps,

Not a problem for me, as I still am the only empeg owner in Latin America , AFAIK.
But, isolation brings other problems, for example I'm not sure about doing anything like modding the empeg, like that translucent-illuminated buttons mod I'm so excited about, because the only idea of breaking something and the subsequent nightmarish experience of sending it to USA or worse, England, to try to repair it seems quite unlikely.

Repairs would be send to England, and those who have done it have been impressed by the turn-around time. Please read this.

I am the only one in my group of friends and it's great. So it's not installed yet but will be by the weekend, hopefully if my Clarion deck did not get stoped at the boarder

...More than 6 hours dog mush...

Geez, I can't get arrested in this town!

For the record, the dog sled/bush plane criteria was a complete fabrication...kind of reminds me of my most successful fib...but a complete fabrication. The problem, I suppose, with trying to exercise a meager sense of humor based in part on petty deceits is that pretty soon folks realize that you're full of sh*t!

I can't resist the Tae-Kwan-Leap reference...

This is a good comedic mp3 to put in your empeg...

Oh, I knew that. I thought it was hilarious, and laughed out loud when I read it.

Sometimes the best jokes on this BBS get met with no replies. Dunno why. Actually, I don't know why I didn't reply to your dogsled post myself. I guess it's that it was so perfect that I didn't have anything better to add. I just laughed and went on to the next thread.

Sometimes the best jokes on this BBS get met with no replies.

Humor is unpredictable and a matter of taste, and I try not to expect a response especially if I deadpanned something. I started to feel guilty, though, that someone might actually believe me!

I still have an ex-boss who, thanks to me, believes that those little wall anchors were invented by a Frenchman named Jacques Molay (and he probably pontificates on that subject at parties -- that kind of guy). I can live with that. The two women I overheard in a bar planning a kayak trip to AK who I convinced that grizzles could be repelled by filing a bit of their kayak with a flat file (something about polyester , esters, vapors...)? Well, I could live with the notion of them going to the next Mountaineers meeting and announcing "Hey, we heard about this great new way to repel bears....", but then I had this vision of the two of them in mid-stream furiously filing away.... After about 20 minutes... I had to tell them.

I just have a fatal attraction to information vacuums.
