Well there must be something wrong with my computer. All I am getting is a quicktime movie of a guy continuously twirling his gun.

Re: Wanna fight? - 29/05/2002 08:16

Probably because it's not Quicktime. It's a Macromedia Shockwave movie.

Re: Wanna fight? - 29/05/2002 09:30

Well how do I stop quicktime from taking over? It's like a disease that has invected my computer constantly setting itself as defaults and stealing files by 'associating them to qucktime'. What the hell is wrong with quicktime?

Re: Wanna fight? - 29/05/2002 09:33

I would suggest uninstalling quicktime and reinstalling it, taking notice of any custom options you have during install and disabling it for everything other than .mov and/or any other quicktime-specific file formats.

I agree with the above...except for the reinstalling it part.

Re: Wanna fight? - 29/05/2002 10:08

Well there is at least 1 movie format that can only be played by quicktime. So in those cases it unfortunately is needed. If this were not the case, I would stay far away from quicktime and anything else having to do with Mac for that matter(sorry, had to put my OS bigotry in there )

Yeah Quicktime is such a POS. I really wish it didn't have such a large adoption by those who are making movies on the web. The player app on Windows is a complete dog.

Re: Wanna fight? - 29/05/2002 10:42

Yeah, I had one release of quicktime a couple of years ago that would take over its files, include wav files, no matter what options you selected durring the install. After that I've avoided it like the plauge, but sometimes break down and install if i'm desperate to watch something.

And WiMP isn't?

Re: Wanna fight? - 29/05/2002 11:28

Compared to Quicktime, Windows Media Player is a dream. Makes sense considering they write the O/S, now doesn't it. Quicktime, obviously, performs very well on MacOS machines. Go figure!

No, not 6.4

Big hint for any XP users, or previous OSs with WMP7 installed. Start, Run, mplayer2, View, Options, Formats, Select All, Ok.

This makes 6.4 the default player over 7. Now if only I could bring back Active Movie player, the best media player MS made.

And about Quicktime on Windows, yes it sucks ever since they moved away from just installing the codecs and a player. Locking the codecs into the player sucks big time.
