Any word on what visualizations the Karma will have?

At the moment, just the VU meters. And the progress/profile indicators if you count those as a visual.

Dunno if there will be more later.

Oh well, suppose that's livable I was just assuming there would be more; if only just to "show off" the res of the screen a bit .

There will be more in future releases, although possibly from the more "functional" categories such as FFT.

rob -- I've noticed you say "X in future releases" a few times -- when you say that, do you mean future karma's (exclusively) or future firmware updates? Not looking for 100% definite here, just curious to how often we'll have to shell out the extra cash

Firmware updates.

The S Series, for example, had several quite big updates and is about to get another one even though we have launched products of the same category.

Cool Rob -- glad to know someone stands by their products (which is more then can be said for others)

No offense to Rob and the boys (i know all the reasons)... but there are quite a number of Rio Central, Riot, and Receiver owners out there who would beg to differ on that topic. =]

Personal opinions:

Although we have to accept that we'll be blamed because the brand name is the same, anyone who had anything to do with the Riot is long gone. That Engineering/Marketing/Sales/Support team has not existed for a long time - it's pretty much because of them that Cambridge became the software team for Rio in fact.

The Receiver and Central are a different matter, and we're as disappointed as anyone. This is a good example of the risks of early adoption - if the product flops then there's not going to be any resources for further development of it. Even so the third party developments for the Receiver have been pretty impressive, and I suspect the only reason there isn't some incredible third party software for Central (which boasts an even cooler set of toys than the car player) is because nobody bought one!

The S Series was a big success and continues to benefit from development. We're quietly confident that Karma and all the other new products will take the same path.

i didn't mean to draw the link between the Cambridge folk and all of thoe products... moreso Rio. No blame on you all... YOU definitely back your products when it's at all feasible to do so. Points well taken.

The funny thing about the Central is... the few people i know that DID buy them, bought them so they would be able to sync them with their empegs! heheh.

Rob, you should cross-post this at RioWorld.org
Some folks fear that the Karma will be "just like the Riot" in ways that are definitely not true.

Yeah but that was the old Rio; we were never really integrated into it. Now we're about 25% of the Rio work force so it's a bit more personal

(which should be a good thing for our customers!)

I have to be a lot more careful what I post on there. There are users who email my boss to report me for leaking information! (I'm not kidding!)

I don't say anything really senstive but people here are more used to me and my warped sense of humour so they can take these discussions in context. That's one of the reasons we worry about an influx of new users (which seems to have calmed down now).
