Ministry of Sound Hotel Network - 08/05/2001 13:02

Hugo and Roger recently installed the largest Rio Receiver network so far. Sixty five units were installed at the Ministry of Sound Hotel in Ibiza, one in each guest room.

Served from a single Win2K PC fitted with three ethernet cards, each guest can listen to their own choice of music from the Ministry catalogue.

Here are some photos:

I'll second that cooool with a holy crap that rocks. There's quite a few trendy hotels here in SF that you guys should hit up with a similar system. wow.

v.cool.

I can just see that there will be serveral "technical support" trips required during the summer.

Heck, you could take other prospective customers, out there for "customer reference" visits.

Did I mention, my initial requirement for a couple of receivers just went up to being a huge deal, and I am a little concerned about this product supporting many Receivers on one PC

I didn't even know there was a MoS hotel (what stone do I live under?).

This is a major catch for Rio - congratulations guys!

No interference between the units at all?

I'm very impressed!

So how did they manage to get them outside of the US?

Paul.

The MoS Hotel is brand new - it press launched last Friday, and we got our Receivers installed just in time. It's not a large hotel, but from the photos it looks good.

We did have to make one in-field software update - a server side volume setting to prevent people playing the units too loudly during the night. The integral amp in the Receiver is really very capable!

The Receiver should be available in Europe very soon.

Now that actually sounds like a 'hack'....

Hopefully that'll make it into the pukka software release? My g/f would be very pleased - although she'll control it (of course!).

Paul.

Yes, that could make it into a release - I can see domestic applications with teenager bedrooms and that kind of thing. I feel kinda sorry for the teens though

a server side volume setting to prevent people playing the units too loudly during the night.

Absolutely brilliant. Sheer genius. If only they could do that for televisions.
