and from what I can tell, it's one of the dell ones that is being sold as a sonic blue one. It even has a "sonic blue" sticker that can be peeled back and "DELL" is underneath :-). Anyhow so far I've gotten it to work under Linux and have even setup the linux server from Jeff Mock. The only reason I'm not still using it though is it's lack of playlist support. I bought this so my fiancee could listen to our mp3's in the living room and without playlist support it won't be of much use to her. I've seen the other software servers but was hoping someone could tell me which one of them they think is best? Obviously playlist support is a must, and reloading or adding new music is easy. Basically I want my fiancee to be able to sit down, setup a playlist and load it. She CAN follow directions and use computers, she's just not a techy person.

Keep in mind that if you want the unit to work with the factory software, it must be version 1.04 of the factory software. The rebadged dells don't work with 1.03.

Is there anyway to tell which of the 3rd party clients is based on v1.04? I just tried out all of the clients and the one that came the closest to working was Reza's. If I keep trying it will eventually load and it even streams music for a while but if I try any of the 'fancy' stuff it stops running. I guess thats the reason. If the 3rd party client is not built on the 1.04 software then it won't work on the Dells.
Thanks Tony

i also recently got 2 more rios on Ebay, they are rebadged Dell units and were shipped with ver 1.04 of the ARM server software. I'm using W2k, simply take the Trio receiver.arf file and replace the 1.04 one. Should come up with very litte effort, just change the server ip address in trio.xml file, adjust the trio.bat file for the location of Java.

I actually did get it working with the .arf file from 1.04 of the ARM software under Linux. I suppose I'll just try and put that into trio and see what I get.

trio provides its own receiver.arf file which you use to replace the original one with, it works with all receiver variants.
