Rio Receiver & Router Install Issues

Rio Receiver & Router Install Issues - 11/12/2002 20:50

I had my receiver hooked up thru a NetGear 10/100 autosensing hub and everything was great. Switched to a NetGear RP614 router, and now receiver is DOA. Router shows that it has made a connection at 10 Mbps (via status light), but receiver never connects.

I suspect that this is a port forwarding issue. Any help for this one?

I suspect that this is a port forwarding issue

I doubt it, unless your server is on the other side of the router, rather than just plugged into the switch on the router.

The more likely problem would be that the router is running it's own DHCP server.

I had this exact problem, the Rio wouldn't boot on a switch, switched (huh) the switch for a normal 10mbps hub and it works fine.

There is something in the docs/sb website about the receiver being sensitive to switches, so I put it down to that.

buncha know issues with intelligent switches and hubs. go see my old post "dead out the box?" or something like that. I found several issues. can't recall if I summarized everything though.

Actually, I'm starting to suspect that the switch is bad. I connected my XBOX via the same switch and it gave very unreliable results - packets from the internet were just going missing on the return path.

So I could see tracert/ping info leave the switch and return to the switch but not to the correct port.

In case anyone happens to buy one, it's a Corega 5 port switch and cost about £30.

It's in the bin now, replaced with a £30 netgear hub, and all is happy, Rio and XBOX working great.
