hanging my xp box

I haven't seen mention of this...
I just got the receiver, and i can play one or two songs, but then my xp box just hangs, totally, cold boot.
I suspect the 1.04 sonic program. Running alternate arfs make no difference.
I am using hpna, and I use it fine for my audiotron, so I don't suspect that necessarily.
Any ideas where to look?

Solved my own problem... sort of.
It had something to do with my screen saver going from that to monitor-off. This screen saver used 3d, so it may be some odd video driver interaction.
