tRio web client on SuSE 9.2

Hi folks,

I recently did a fresh install of SuSE 9.2 pro on my laptop and now cannot access the web front end to tRio.
tRio, JRec, etc are running on another box with SuSE 9.1 as they have been for many, many months. What's new it SuSE 9.2 on my laptop.

When I go to the http://musicserver:8090/trio-applet.htm on the 9.2 browser it just displays the following messages and stops:

"tRio Web Font-End" and "finding tRio Server"

Note it really does say "Font-End"

I recall a while back that there was an issue with certain java runtime versions. I've got java-1_4_2-sun (1.4.2.06) which was shipped with SuSE 9.2.

So the question is, is anyone else having this problem?
The server is still running tRio 0.1.5 as its been working fine and I haven't had time to play with the PPC client.
I can access the web front end from my Windows machine.

Does tRio 0.1.6 have the same java problem? Or will upgrading solve my problem?

BTW, the result is the same with Kongueror or Firefox under SuSE 9.2 Both browsers were working fine with my old SuSE 9.1 installation on my laptop.

I've noticed that it's a bit hit-and-miss under linux myself. But so far I haven't spent enough time on it to work out what's going wrong. Something to do with the applet repainting (or lack thereof).

Do you know what java run-time version you had in your 9.1 set up? It may be worth trying the latest 1.4.2_07 from the java web site.

I spent the last two or three days installing jrec and trio on SuSE 9.2 Pro and had a lot of problems with it. I dropped back to SuSE 9.1, and got it to work. Since I just finished the install tonight if you can tell me specific problems I will try to give you a hand.

JRec and tRio continue to run on a SuSE 9.1 box.
It's only the web front end that seems hit & miss on my 9.2 machine. I assume that it's the JRE that ships with 9.2 that is the probem.

It's not a big deal. I have no plans to change the 9.1 server as it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do!
