Telephone icon - 10/09/2002 02:44

Hi all!

Since i've installed my MKIIa on my car, i have a telephone icon on the screen when plugged., and remote doesn't work.
I used only 3 cables of the docking, +12v, +12v perm and ground. The mute cable is blended and i've seen it's not connected to anything.
The volume and functions work fine., all but remote.
At home, the telephone doesn't appear, but remote doesn't work either...
What can i do to take the little phone out of the screen? Is my remote dead?
I've just updated to v.13 and i have no improovement.

Thanks a lot:

Miguel

I have never seen a telephone icon on the player. Do you mean a BATTERY icon?

If that's the case, then please click here.

Hi Tony

No, it's a tenephone icon on the top-right corner of the screen. It's over the rest of drawings, always on and always there.
The battery icon appears sometimes in the left corner when i start the engine, for example. I thing some time ago instead the telephone icon there was a hdd icon when it was reading... (?)
First thing i thought was the mute (telephone mute) cable was touching the Riocar body, but it wasn't...
Am I the only one that has it on the screen?

Thanks:

Miguel.

Its the mute icon. Change the player configuration in emplode to have a different values for mute. I think there is +12V, 0V and not used from memory. That will fix it.

Re: Telephone icon - 10/09/2002 09:02

It's definitely a telephone Tony. Looks like this...

It comes up when the mute line is considered active. Only appears in DC mode too for obvious reasons. It will appear if he has it set to active on +12v since it seems to float up to +12v. Well it does on mine anyway.

Miguel: The fix to remove the icon is in emplode go to File->Configure Player and select the Mute tab. Change the section after "when" to "never" and resync.

I doubt very much that will fix your problem with the remote though.

Re: Telephone icon - 11/09/2002 04:00

Well, thanks all for your answers and sorry about my poor english...
This evening i'll try the solution you say, turning off the mute signal on emplode. I'm sure the cable is not in contact with any other, and it has no volts when Rio is unplugged. Maybe this cable is affected by the current flowing through other cables too close... Of course i have an alternator noise problem too, probably due to the installation that i'll fix when i have some time.
So when i put the Rio in the car the icon appears, but at home i cannot reproduce it. I'll try to reroute the installation too.
But I have a dude... The icon appears but volume is not changed... Is it the normal operation?
About the remote:
Probably the battery on the remote is dead. But it has a rare dead, couse it went from live to dead in 5 minutes, just the time to charge the new (July) Hijack. I have the newest now, so tomorrow i'll tell you if it was the problem...

So taking the opportunity of having your attention, a question:
Can I mix Rio remote signals with Pioneer ones? I have both and it would be nice to have both operating...
What must I do to tell Riocar I have a Pioneer remote?

Thanks very much for your time...

Yes. You program it using Hijack. Please read the Hijack section of the FAQ for information on programming custom button presses to third-party IR signals. Hint: Go into "button codes display" in Hijack and press some buttons on your pioneer and empeg remotes.

Hi again.

Thanks for your answers, I got it!
I changed the MUTE parameter to none. It was on +12v. Now the icon has gone ;-)
Then I changed my config.ini following the instructions in Hijack pages, and now my Pioneer remote works too!
IEach day I'm happier with my MKIIa. It's fantastic.

Cheers:

Miguel
