Hard Drive Ribbon Cable - 01/02/2003 22:06

Stupid question, but what length and type of cable shall I use for the MKII. I busted one up in my haste to remove the cable before carefully removing the glue.

They were made specially for the empeg. You won't be able to purchase the exact same connector ``over the counter''. The empeg guys have extra ones for repairs, but I don't know if you can purchase new ones from them.

You can. I asked about a month ago and the price was either $14 or $20. I can't remember exactly.

Although they are custom, they aren't impossible to make even for the average joe. What makes them custom is the distance between the connectors and the special folding used to make the cable fit nicely. The cable is standard off the shelf stuff (metric pitch though) as are the connectors.

That being said, if you can get them from support for even US$20 it's probably just easier to get them from there.

... unless you need one that folds elegantly under your hard drive tray because of your installed fan.
