It's not as dire as the subject sounds. The tuner and player still work fine, but when I select aux, I get decreased volume (on that input) and static. I compared against my wife's player, to be sure.

I think I may have had an aux device feeding from the car power improperly grounded briefly one evening. I suspect therefore that I killed a capacitor or (less likely?) a fuse.

Sadly my spare player is still off visiting Europe, so I'm not going to send this one back just now... nor do I really want to do sSMT soldering to fix it, but I'm curious how I lost.

I seem to recall someone else reporting that problem and needing to send the player back to the nest for repair.

Question: Are you sure that player was OK to begin with? IIRC, the other report was an out-of-the-box condition.

If it really was your incorrectly-grounded connection that caused the problem, I'd like to FAQ it.

Aux in worked the first time I connected the other device, and stopped working yesterday.

The other device, incidentally (heresy) is an XM Radio receiver. I don't plan to keep it, but it cost me -$15. Yes, that negative sign is correct.

Hey, I would be interested in the XM receiver if you "don't plan to keep it". Let me know if it's for sale.

I'm going to have it for a while, but if you're not in a hurry I'll keep you in mind. I plan to milk a couple of their channels for playlist ideas.
