MK2: Redled/front q's - 03/07/2000 12:34

Just two questions on the MK2: What is the red led inside for ?

The front filter plastic doesn't seem to have the EMC grid in there. Is it now 'normal' filter plastic ? Cheers, tx, J.

When Hugo demoed the MK2 prototype for me, he remarked that it was now a clear spray coating on the inner surface instead of the wire mesh. Amazing what they can do with technology, isn't it? (And it sounds like it would be cheaper to manufacture, too.)

The red led is a diagnosis led. It does some flashing in test mode (ctrl-T at the reflasher prompt on power on). The mk1 had one too, except it was yellow and harder to see from the outside of the case.

Do you mean the small LED next to the USB port? In my Mark2 this isn't red, but shines blue . . .

The LED by the USB port is the ethernet link led. It comes on at power up, then goes off when ethernet is initialised.

The internal red led is something else altogether, and is near the right-side cooling holes.
