config.ini/synchronize errer - 17/07/2003 04:04

Hi - for some reason, my config.ini file seems to have disappeared from my RioCar player (Mk2a), taking my ir-translate codes with it. When I attempt to rebuild this file and synchronize the player, I get a message saying, "Synchronize failed while connecting to player. Sequence number mismatch. Someone was here before us. (error 0x80040017)."

The unit will sync properly if I don't attempt to edit the config.ini file. Any help getting this straightened out will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

(I'm using emplode/car version 2.00-beta11, and hijack v340)

What program are you using to edit config.ini? Have you read this? I'd start there.

I was working directly from emplode, using the hidden software feature. This worked fine originally, before the file on the player went bad. I get this error even if I don't alter the file before synchronizing.

(The "lightbulb" went on (I tried to select ?) and I now see the "errer" of my ways. What a funny word to misspell)

CrashLander, please see this FAQ entry for information on how to repair your config.ini file.

Ahhh!!! Success!!!!!!!

Although, I was not able to delete the file as stated in the faq entry (which, by the way, I had been to already.)

However, I did accidentally find a different solution to the problem, which as a side benefit preserved my ir-translate codes (which saved me quite a bit of time):

From emplode, select Tools, Favorite Visuals, for DSP, click on first one, hold shift and press the End button on the keyboard, and press remove. This will remove all 23,000 selected visuals, and instantly restore everything back to normal.

Danny is now VERY happy!

Thanks Tony.

I'm curious why. Was there an error message or something?

No, I didn't get any error messages. I went through the procces exactly as stated, but it just didn't seem to work.
