clock not advancing when empeg not powered?

I observed something strange today. It looks like when power is removed the clock stops advancing, but it doesn't reset.

This isn't the failure mode I expected. If there's a capacitor toasted I'd expect it to lose.

Damn. I ended up in "playlist elapsed" mode.

Lemme guess. Remote control held upside down, pressed what you thought was the volume-down key, but were pressing the "1" key instead...

Must have been, but I have no idea when: I wasn't using the remote.
