Playlist not updating

I think I have searched the FAQ correctly but.....
Just uploaded a bunch of new songs, but none of the new artists are appearing in the playlist, it is exactly the same as the pre-upload list.
What the heck am I doing wrong.

You are looking at the wrong playlist, obviously!

Is this your first time ever adding tunes?

Are you sure you put those songs into a playlist? Perhaps they're just in the soup.

Did you actually press the "Synchronize" button? Did it work, or did it give an error message?

No, this is the first time this has happened, although it is a while since I added new stuff and I am getting older........

OK it does look like I have done somehting stupid, no big surprise there.......
The files are only in the soup views and not in any playlists.
Just got to figure out how to get them into my playlists now.
