Lost songs/wrong info in v3alpha9 - 16/10/2004 10:09

I have a MK2a with 32mb ram and after I install firmware version v3alpha9 my playlist only shows 52 songs, there are 12000 songs on the player. What I am getting on the track screen is the following showing up:

Song Title = Song title
Band = Genre
Album = RID

When I revert back to 2.0final all my playlists appear. Everything shows correctly however in emplode and jemplode...

Any recommended fixes?

You've already applied the appropriate fix (reverting to 2.0final). This "booboo" was discovered very shortly after 3alpha9 was made public. If you want v3, you'll just have to wait for a less broken alpha or a nice beta.

It looks as if v3alpha8 is doing the same on the player. The version sounds like it has some great features... Oh well, at least there is a new v2.01 with bigger RAM support

I had a problem with 3a8 where my ReserveCache setting was too large, and the player wouldn't load the database successfully until I removed the setting entirely.

Ive looked and looked for that setting...can you, ah, tell me where/how? It is agravating to have to revert/upgrade over and over again.

In config.ini :

[Startup]
ReserveCache=x

Where x is the value to use, e.g. 60. Use jEmplode (or Emplode?) to edit config.ini to remove the ReserveCache line. If you don't know where to look it is probably because you didn't edit the file to add the setting in the first place, so your config.ini won't contain the setting (unless you bought your player second-hand, in which case it might or might not be there).

Once you have changed the file, you will need to do a sync to update the file on the player.

[Edit: for clarity]
