identifying mk1/mk2/mk2a - 17/07/2001 13:58

Hi.

I was just wondering how I can check which hardware my program is currently running on. Background:
I just finished compiling a "standalone" (i.e. not dependend on neither inetd nor /etc/passwd) ftpd, and I'm just writing the install script(s). In these scripts, I want to check wether the install is being done on a markI,markII (older or newer version). I guess I could extract this information from /proc/empeg_id, especially the hwrev and serial fields should be right for this task. I know my empeg MkII (S/N 80000113) has hwrev 07, but what hwrev does a MkI have, what hwrev on a newer MkII? Is there a better way to check this out?

Mk1s are hwrev 4 iirc, and Mk2a's are hwrev 9.

As noted on the geek site, 5 was flateric (only one ever made), trillian, the only rev6, got quite ill, and no rev 8 ever reached PCB stage as such.

Isn't Trillian rev7? At least I have a hwrev 07 according to DisplayServer.

Marvin was revision 6, surely?

Hmm, I think you're right. Trillian must have been the prototype issue 7.

I said say IIRC :)
