Does the RF amp help?

Does the RF amp help? - 20/10/1999 03:14

I noticed that some owners are reporting that their units are shipping with a small inline RF amp. I'd like to know if that device helps lock in local stations. Also, is it something special or can I just acquire an amplified antenna locally? Thanks!

I installed the RF amp at the antenna end of the cable, in order to amplify as much signal and as little noise as possible. I'm getting reasonably strong signals, though the radio's ability to screen out stray signals seems rather poor.

Since I didn't try the radio without the RF amp, I don't know how much of a difference it's making.

The empeg people promised to send out one of these amps to every customer shortly, so you shouldn't need to buy one - just wait for it to arrive in your letter box. :-)

I did indeed receive one in the post yesterday. What a cool company!

Not really made a great deal of difference, though...

I didn't get any or heard about this outside this board!

Should I do something to get it?
