"Debug Version" - 15/01/2000 09:54

The release notes for Beta 9 state:

With this release we have returned to using a debug version of the player in developer builds.

What exactly does this mean? I know what a debug build of a windows program is (the .EXE contains the symbol tables so you can run the debugger on it), but I'm wondering what it means for the Empeg in terms of end-user functionality. Will we see any different behavior or screen messages?

The debug version of the player is built without optimisation and includes extra trace output and assertions. There is no symbol information.

The only differences you will notice are more serial output while the player is running and more frequent caching due to the smaller cache size.
