AFAIK, line level refers to voltage/power while AUX refers to functionality of the box they're on (auxiliary inputs, supplemental of the "normal" ones). AUX inputs are generally line level, but could be speaker level too...

On many devices, they would tend to mean the same thing. What device are you referring to?

i was reading specs on a blaupunkt reciever and it was said to have line level inputs to plug in another audio source. i am putting my rio into aux input port of another head unit instead of buying an amp. i can't even remember which specific reciever i was looking at now, but i am pretty much set on a pioneer head unit, a cheap one from ebay perhaps.

Ah, OK. In that particular case, line input and aux input are exactly the same thing.
