Display boards of MkII and MkIIa interchangeable? - 26/04/2002 11:52

Hi.

I am thinking about doing (or let someone else do) the backlit buttons hack on my MkII. There is one thing I wonder though:
If I (or whoever is doing it) manages to damage the display board, would it be possible to insert the display board of my MkIIa into the MkII? Are they interchangeable like that?
Will a MkIIa display board work in a MkII?
What about a MkII display board in a MkIIa?

I know that I can't solder a rotary encoder from a MkII onto a MkIIa display board and vice versa (at least ISTR that has been said by Hugo once), but could a complete display board be exchanged?

Yes, they are interchangeable (both ways). However, the rotary control plastics are different, so you'll have to move the knob with the display board.

Triple check you have plugged the display connector in correctly though, it's easy to connect it one pin adrift.
