Audible support - 12/08/2001 12:51

I would like to play my audiobooks from Audible.com through the receiver. Some mobile MP3 players from Rio support this special audio format.

Or does anyone know how to convert Audible encoded files to MP3 or WMA that can be played using the Rio Receiver?

For any audio file that is copy-protected (for instance, if you can't play them in WinAmp or if they use a proprietary file format), then you can always stream them to a wav file using the software named Total Recorder, then encode that resulting wav file into MP3 or WMA or whatever you want.

There will be a generational quality loss resulting from data-compressing the same audio stream twice. However, for spoken-word books, this shouldn't be a large issue.

As Rio have entered into an arrangement with Audible for some of the portable products, I will make some enquiries to determine how this might be further applied to the home and car categories.
