Mac Audio stuff - any good?

Mac Audio stuff - any good? - 23/08/2002 11:12

Hey,

I'm looking at getting a powered subwoofer for my vehicle, and was considering the Infinity Basslink, which has good reviews.

However, my favourite online car audio shop has just got in a Mac Audio (is that with or without a space?) Compact 225 Active Sub, which has a 10 inch sub and a 120w RMS amp in a nice looking package (the Basslink always looks a bit weird to me).

Anyone got any opinions on Mac Audio stuff, generally or specific to this product? I'm not looking for loud thumping bass, I'm more interested in controlled smooth sounds. Although obviously volume plays a part, otherwise I wouldn't need one

Many thanks,

Alexis.

Are you talking about McIntosh or is MAC Audio a company I've never heard of? If you are talking about McIntosh, then I can give some insight.

After doing some more research, they appear to be called macAudio, MAC AUDIO, or mac-audio, depending on where (on their own website!) you look.

They're a German company (www.mac-audio.de), so maybe they don't sell to the US. Might explain why finding out much about them has been tricky, although what I have found seems to be pretty good.

Thanks for your help,

A.

I've had Mac Audio speakers in my car. Not too expensive, pretty decent sound.

I sold them to a friend who still uses them every day. I've never heard him complain about them also, and he's pretty picky about his sound.
So yes, if I ever needed to buy speakers again I would consider them.
