Mk II & Mk II a - 17/05/2003 10:00

New to this site. How do I find out is my player a Mk II or Mk IIa? Is it an external or software difference? I think it's prob the former, 12G, 'empeg' appears on LCD when I boot it up and I got it from Cambridge about Nov-Dec 2000.

The cheap way is "does the decal on top say empeg (mk2) or riocar(mk2a)"

Welcome!

There is no software difference, and whether or not is says "empeg" on boot is changeable, so that's not how you tell. The differences between the two models are listed as the very first item in the very first section of the Empeg FAQ here. Spend some time going through that, it's up to date (I just added an entry minutes ago) and very complete. Some even consider it to be interesting reading.

Yes, you did, grasshopper.

Gotta teach you how to use the "URL=" tag, though, so it doesn't make the thread table extra-wide...

I added my post to encourage him to browse the FAQ from the top.

We know *how* to use it, but *choose* not to sometimes. We need all the speed advantage we can get.
