Quick question..

Is there a way to get joe to work on the empeg? I *really* dont want to use ae or another editor unless it is my only choice.. So, is this possible and / or already been done before? Please help!

When will people learn that vi is the one true editor?

Well, I was going to respond with a text editor written in dd/sh, but all copies of it seem to be gone now. Sigh.

Real hackers use dd if=/dev/tty

.... actually, real hackers write directly to the disks with a magnet.

So... is that a yes... or a no.. to being able to use it with the empeg?

That's a "I don't know". I was answering Paul's question about what it was. Sorry.

You might be able to compile it up, but it probably depends on a terminfo database which doesn't exist on the empeg. Someone (Paul, maybe?) posted a version of vi that works. I don't know how it avoids the lack of a terminfo database, though. Regardless, you can try to compile it.

I don't know how [vi] avoids the lack of a terminfo database, though.

I suspect it has a basic one compiled in. I've had a few problems with it. For instance, no matter how big my window is when I start vi, it only uses 25 lines. No biggy... still better than the alternative...
