Microphone?

Would it be possible to implement into Hijack a decibel measurer?

If voice recogonition is possible, there must be a possibility to measure the noise level inside the car? Why I ask is that I'd like to know how loud noise (and how loud I am actually playing) in the car...

Hello,

Implementing this would require a lot of things (the programming part is probably tedious for Mark Lord), but you need to take the following into account:

1) how sensitive is the microphone you're using
2) where is the microphone placed
etc. etc.

But if you wan't a relative sound level this can probably be done pretty easily.

(But you have this available but just noticing how far you've turned up the volume, if you're using the AutoVolume hack).

Not the answer you were looking for, I suppose :)

You could calibrate using a radio shack decibel meter. You turn up the volume, the microphone will pass a signal, measure that signal in RMS, then get a decibel number from the meter, plug it in. Voila, now you have a mapping between voltage and decibels for that mike. roughly.

Umm, I thought the Empeg had a mic for the voice recognition. Guess not. My bad.

The empeg has a jack into which you can plug a microphone... but the microphone itself doesn't come with the empeg...
