Another hijack feature request, hosts allowed,etc. - 06/02/2002 01:28

How about this... in the config.ini, specify hosts that are allowed to connect to the empeg via http or ftp?

ie,

hosts_allowed=205.32.34.42;205.32.12.*

....etc

Should be really benefitial since mine is just sitting on my school network in my dorm so pretty much anyone could get to it... wouldn't be too fun if they did.

I think the ftp password is a better way, and perhaps I'll add an http password as well.. later.

You want to make your dorm-mates practice their IP-spoofing skills?

Those don't look like dorm IP addresses:
Space and Naval Warfare Systems

Washington, DC 20363-5100
US

Netname: JMCIS-BLOCK
Netblock: 205.0.0.0 - 205.117.255.255

If you've just got it on the school network, then perhaps you should consider a firewall in front of it.. Hijack isn't the only loophole in your current setup (eg. Emplode, ..).

Where can you find information like that?

http://www.arin.net/whois/index.html

Just type in an IP and it tells you who owns it. Keep in mind that large ISPs own many IPs and will assign them to clients. So if you put in the IP of a small company, don't be surprised to see the owner listed as their ISP with no mention of the company name.
