Hijack web root?

Hijack web root? - 19/02/2002 14:57

what dir does hijack use as a webroot?
I've looked in the hijack faq but couldn't find anything...
what I'm looking for is to be able to enter http:\\empegJohn\ and have it go to a default page. Is this possible with the web server in hijack?

From what I remember, the default directory is the root dir ( / ).. it would be handy to have config options to specify the root dir (and prevent .. from accessing anything above of corse) for HTTP and FTP access.

That's the next part of the FAQ to go up... ftp and http stuff. I'm workin on it! It's having to compete with my empeg home component box at the moment... and it's loosing. =]

You can put an index.html in every directory you don't want browsed, it keeps the lookers out. Put a link <play> on the index.html page at / ,that points to /drive0/fids/101?.htm. Then you'll only have to remember your ip.

thanks for the tips...
but, that doesn't prevent people from viewing the config.ini and getting my ftp password...
and I already turned on http_dirs = 0 so people can't look in...
I do have a link to the playlist, that was why I wanted to set it up this way...
maybe Mark could add something to allow us to have a index.html in root only and have that one ignore files=0, just and idea...

by the way...don't have to remember the ip if you use findempeg it'll add a entry to the hosts file to allow entering common word descriptive name. works great when dhcp changes addresses :-)

Webroot would not work on a 2-drive empeg, since the playlist files can be scattered randomly across either drive, and the two drives are mounted at /, rather than under a /mnt subdir. So that's a nonstarter (too bad, really).

But I suppose we could have hijack still allow html file access even when "khttpd_files=0". Objections, anybody?
