New Ride... A 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora

I traded in my Xterra and now the challenge of integrating my empeg begins... My friends claim I switched cars only because my last install was finished and I got bored. The factory radio isn't bad, however the build of the car is not custom friendly. Some of the car's computer functions rely on a connection to the radio. I'm thinking of going with a glove box or trunk install. The trunk has a pass through to the back seat which is actually standard din width... If anyone's installed in an Olds without posting or you've done a non-dash install your comments are needed! I'm on dial up now but I'll post a link with pictures later.
A few questions...

• Has anyone tried a Sony Stalk and an infared repeater?
• Has anyone used Palantir through an infared repeater?
• There's lots of lcd projects listed in the forums... but which one is the easiest/cheapest route?

A link with photos will certainly help. I was able to install in the ashtray / CD holder area of my Riv - there may be "creative alternatives" instead of putting the empeg somewhere out of sight.

The ash tray is much to narrow and the cup holder actually folds out from underneath the center console. Take a look ....

You might want to check into that. The same thing was said of my car, but there was a way to disable the radio at the shop. Consider the notion that if your radio goes bad that other things in the car would stop working. Would GM make you repair your radio to get these things fixed? (Maybe, but they might just be expecting the radio, and if there's a way to tell them not to expect it....)
