Steering Wheel Controls on my Volvo

Steering Wheel Controls on my Volvo - 13/01/2009 20:37

I got a tip that the CANBUS adapter from Dietz might allow me to use my 2004 Volvo S60R's steering wheel controls with my empeg. Aber mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht.

Can someone help me out, please?

I just checked their web site...
Looks like you need the CAN bus interface part# 61303 and the cable kit part# 61336. When you click on "Produktblatt" you'll get a German/English manual.

Cheers,
Peter

I have a feeling that the 61336 is the connector between the canbus interface and the Volvo, right? (I can't seem to find a product page for that part number.) And then I'd need part 65105 to get to the Sony-Stalk-style connector that the empeg (tuner) needs?

It was merely an offer of (limited) help. Seems like you're on the right track now, though.

I, too, couldn't find any mention of part number 61336.
The interface pdf lists only one Volvo cable for the 61303 (table on page 13) and otherwise mentions car-specific connections at the back (Volvo being on the last page).
I'm absolutely certain that has not escaped your attention, Bitt.
I'm stumped- hence my offer of 'limited' help. I have no expertise in this area.
Perhaps Peter will shine more light on the problem.

If it were me, the next thing I'd do would be to attempt contact with a company representative and walk through the specifics of my application and desires.

Good luck!

That's a good point.

Peter, do you see any contact info and any indication they might be able to help me in English? (Or an infant's German? wink )

Found this:
Audiotechnik Dietz Vertriebs GmbH, Benzstraße 12, 67269 Grünstadt, Tel:06359-93310

The country code for Germany is 49, so, from the states you'd dial
001-49-6359-93310
Most Germans speak enough English that I bet you could get by- at least get passed from a receptionist to an applications person.

Or try a simple email to [email protected]

Hope that helps-

Interesting... There is a manual for 61336 & 61036 (61036 is the adapter for Becker HUs and 61336 is the adapter for HUs from other manufacturers). You can find it here:

http://www.dietz2.biz/dokumente%5C61036,61336_D-E.pdf

But you're right - they do not list the item on their web site. Strange...

Also, part 65105 is not the right connector as far as I can tell. It's only for the 65000 series CAN bus interfaces. You'll need one of the connectors listed on page 16 (61401 - 61409) of the 61303 manual

Cheers,
Peter
