Installation in Testarossa

Installation in Testarossa - 02/02/2002 21:34

I installed my RioCar 30GB in my Ferrari Testarossa 85 today. Very easy since the car already had an Alpine amp and the dash is made for a DIN unit.

Next I need to replace the speakers since they sound horrible!

I will receive a radio tuner next week, so I need to take the case out again. What is the easiet way to bend back the "tabs" that keep the fixed case in place?

At least one 911 that I've seen mentioned.

But come on. It's not like anyone has strolled in here asking for install suggestions for a McLaren F1 or a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost or a vintage 1950's Mercedes 300SL (gull-wing).

I bow down before you. That is now officially the coolest stereo in the coolest car.

If you can avoid bending the tabs, perhaps by dismantling part of the dash, that's the best route. I don't know how the Ferrari's dash is put together, though, so I don't know if that's possible.

Otherwise, it's just a question of digging with the screwdriver. Be careful not to bend the cage itself, and don't slip and scratch the Ferrari, of course.

Yeah...that is pretty damn cool, but I've got a 308GTSi that I could put the second sled I ordered in. Testarossas are sweet, but the 309GTSi is the Magnum P.I. car...

But your Volvo will dive any day of the week. The Ferrari will only drive when it's not in the shop. Which by all accounts (all accounts) is regularly.

My Ferrari has never been in the shop for anything other than regular oil changes. If you take care of them, they are great cars. On the otherhand, if you drive them like a idiot and ignore the oil changes and tune ups, they will get VERY cross and not behave properly.

I just got a flyer from the place that maintains my Ferrari. They have a shipment of new Bentley's on the way. How about a $456,000 home for an Empeg? The built in humidor in the trunk is a nice touch too.
