Acura RSX Type S?? - 11/07/2002 20:16

So I just bought one of these puppies.... and just removed the Riocar MK2a, amps, speakers and all that out of my POS Audi A4... Being that the Type S comes standard with a Bose CD changer and premium sound, has anyone installed an empeg into one of these things while keeping the factory stereo intact? (I didn't really want the bose crap, but they really gave me no option being that it's frickin standard so it seems kind of a waste to go pulling all that out)

i havent done a rsx type s, but ive done other acuras with the bose system, basically what u wanna do is get clips ons, leave the factory amp in there and all the wires, save the speakers and deck to reinstall it later on. and pop everything into the holes, i dunno if ur gunna run new wires or not, but keep all of the old wires in tack.

Acura is by honda, and Honda is well known for more than adequate wiring,
use it if you can, and definately do not cut anything....
you will want to be able to put back the orig. system

DONE!!! Wow.... so I don't have a digital camera right now (digital camera went with the ex when she moved) but I'd really like to get some pictures up on here because it looks awesome.... I got a wiring harness and being that all the speakers from the factory are powered by external amps (somewhat weak external amps) I was able to wire everything into the wiring harness.... no extra amp installation (although I'll probably go ahead and do that at some point and time) everything slid right in snapped in place and looks like the car shipped with the empeg.... the Metra kit is awesome... has kind of a cubby hole for the radio that the empeg fits in perfectly.... if it wasn't for having to remove the cigarette lighter panel and the factory HU itself (much blood and cuts...) I'd say it was the easiest install I've ever done!

Man, I'd hate to be you after a bad install. Ouch.

I'd never seen factory clips hang on like these puppies did.... you also had to cram both hands in an opening 6 inches wide with lots of nice little sharp metal bits pokin out to push the back of the HU out.... I have really big clumsy hands

I used my digital camcorder to take some very bad digital captures... here they are.

So I rewired the entire car.... easy enough except for the fishing the wire through the rubber boot in the driver and passenger side doors... whada pain... but I went ahead and got some higher quality pictures of the install and thought I'd share.

Here's the amp... really had no ideas as to where to mount it... any better ideas are more then welcome! I actually have two amps back there one on the back of each rear seat...

Sweet! I don't think I want a stealth install for the sub... (I kinda like the idea of being able to keep a spare tire) but that gives me a great idea for something to house my amps...

Thanks!
