Delete from playlist

Delete from playlist - 02/07/2001 08:29

I think I'd like to have the ability to delete a song or group of songs from the current playlist.

Perhaps, by adding a 'remove' selection to the existing add/append (and soon to be insert) in the search dialog, and maybe a keypress similar to the tweak playlist functions to remove the current track.

I realize something similar could be done with wendy filters, but I'm guessing that would require setting a flag for each song in emplode ahead of time. I'm kind of hoping for something more 'on-the-fly'.

Greetings!

The closest thing available (or soon to be available) would be the ability to mark the file on the player, and they search for marked files in emplode and delete from there. This is for the same reasons that you cannot build a playlist on the fly - read only file systems and no good way to store the information on the fly.

Except that you CAN build a playlist on the fly, just not a permanent one (this is what the search function does). Which is actually what I'm wanting to remove tracks from. Not to modify the permanent playlist structure, but to remove tracks from the current 'built-on-the-fly-via-searching' playlist.

Ah... OK. I misunderstood what you were looking to do. I would be curious to see if this can be done also...

There's always the "hate next" button (8, IIRC).

I know what you are saying but unless you are listening to a playlist on repeat could you not just skip past the song when it comes on But if you are listening to a on the fly playlist on repeat then yes this culd be a nice option but the only way i could really see this could work well would be a remove next option instead of hunting throught the playlist with search opions etc. So you would be only able to remove the next song in your playlist this or a remove current. So yes i think this would be a nice idea.

I've thought about that, but, it's just not the same. After all, you'll eventually run out of unplayed songs to swap it with (especialy in small playlists). And I admit, if this is a problem frequently, then the song or songs shouldn't be in the playlist to begin with.

My main thought is that it could be quicker to append a playlist and remove one or more tracks or groups of tracks, rather than 'append track', 'append track', 'append track', ad nauseum, to get to the selection of music that you want.
